Dr. Alex Hunter is thrilled to be joining the team at Animal Medical Center of McKinney in July and even more excited to be returning home to the North Texas area. Originally from Allen, she’s proud to now be serving the community she and her husband grew up in.
A proud Fightin’ Texas Aggie, Dr. Hunter earned both her undergraduate and veterinary degrees from Texas A&M University. She graduated magna cum laude from Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine in 2016, after completing an undergraduate degree in Biomedical Science with a minor in Animal Science.
Dr. Hunter has a special interest in soft tissue surgery, ophthalmology, dentistry, and dermatology. She’s passionate about building strong relationships with pets and their people, and truly loves being part of the bond that makes animals such an important part of the family.
After spending the past eleven years moving around the globe, Dr. Hunter and her family are excited to be back in Texas. Her husband completed 10 years of active duty service in the U.S. Air Force and now continues to serve in the Air Force Reserves. Their home is full of energy, love, and a little bit of chaos as they’re raising three wonderful young kids and sharing their home with three beloved dogs: an Australian Shepherd, a Golden Retriever, and a Blue Heeler.
In her free time, Dr. Hunter enjoys spending time with family, riding horses, and traveling—her favorite destinations so far have been Iceland and Sweden.
Dr. Hunter can’t wait to meet you and she is looking forward to providing compassionate care to your four-legged family members!
